MORGAN HILL — October 26, 2026. Drivers and people using local paths should plan around continuing Upper Llagas Creek Flood Protection Project construction. The city’s current weekly update lists a Wright Avenue closure from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., October 23 through November 6, while crews pave, stripe, install sensors and finish sidewalks.
Daily reopening, with a possible Saturday exception
Wright Avenue is expected to reopen each evening and remain available on weekends. The city cautions that there may be a closure Saturday, October 31. Residents should follow notices at the work site; the published schedule is conditional on weather and construction needs.
Hale Avenue and the creek trail
The city currently anticipates Hale Avenue reopening November 6, though delays are possible. The West Little Llagas Creek Trail east of the channel between LaCrosse Drive and Watsonville Road is closed; the path on the west side is listed as an alternative. Another trail closure affects the area of Edes Court between Edmundson Avenue and Cosmo. Pedestrians should not enter fenced construction zones.
Flood protection status
According to Morgan Hill, the most critical in-channel flood-protection work has been completed ahead of potential El Niño storms. Remaining phases involve site restoration and PG&E electrical work. Completion of this particular phase is not proof that flooding is impossible; residents should still follow official warnings and prepare for severe winter weather.
