MORGAN HILL, Santa Clara County — October 26, 2026. The City of Morgan Hill is presenting proposed changes to local housing rules at a free community workshop Monday, October 26, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 17000 Monterey Road, Machado Room.
Six issues affecting local housing
The city says officials will discuss a new policy on the use of surplus publicly owned property for affordable housing; proposed rules on how fees paid instead of providing affordable units would be prioritized; amendments to the city’s inclusionary housing requirements; and tenant relocation plans and assistance when condominiums or mobile-home parks are converted. A separate proposal concerns regulations on mobile-home rents and space rents.
City housing staff say the changes are intended to align local rules with the adopted Housing Element and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Transit-Oriented Communities policy. That regional policy affects eligibility for future transportation grants, including certain One Bay Area Grant funding.
Proposed changes are not adopted laws
Residents should distinguish a policy workshop from a final City Council vote. The listing describes amendments for public discussion, not the passage of new mobile-home protections, new affordable housing units or an immediate change in rental fees. Property owners and renters should ask which provisions apply to their specific situation and when any adopted ordinance would take effect.
The city lists Housing staff contact john.lang2@morganhill.ca.gov and 408-310-4637. Because the session takes place today, residents should verify room access and participation details with the city.
