MORGAN HILL, CALIFORNIA — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. Morgan Hill voters have given an early No majority to a ballot question about the city treasurer’s office. The Santa Clara County report updated at 7:28 p.m. November 4 shows 4,732 No votes (52.0%) against 4,354 Yes (47.9%) on Measure A. No leads by 378 votes in the counted portion; this is not an official certified outcome.
What is Measure A?
The county’s election tracker describes Measure A as a City of Morgan Hill treasurer question with a simple-majority threshold. Whether it would change appointment, election or other duties of the position is governed by the official ballot text and impartial analysis, not by a headline shorthand. Readers seeking a legal answer about the office should read those documents before assuming that the outcome will eliminate or change any position.
Why less than 400 votes matters
The reported total of valid Yes/No selections is 9,086. A 378-vote difference is relatively small compared with that total, and more lawful ballots could adjust the result. The countywide total of remaining ballots is not a reliable estimate of the number of uncounted votes eligible for Morgan Hill Measure A. The same voter may have made selections in the mayoral and council races but left this measure blank.
Mayor and council results are different
The updated Morgan Hill mayoral report lists Mark Turner 4,758 votes, Deborah M. Africa 3,539 and Kristopher L. Clayton 1,064. Read California58’s mayoral results. Separate council elections for Districts B and D are addressed in the district-level council article. They are independent voting questions, not additional votes on Measure A.
Importance of local government design
City treasurers, mayors and council members have roles defined by municipal law and applicable state statutes. Changing the method or structure of a public office can affect oversight and administrative continuity; whether Measure A does so requires a reading of its text. Both supporters and opponents may have documented positions, but this report describes the ballot rather than taking sides.
Next county updates
The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters conducts the legal canvass. The county election tally used here remains a November 4 reporting snapshot. Additional eligible mail ballots and review processes continue before the official county result. California statewide certification is scheduled for December 11.
